(****a selective, private, undergraduate liberal arts, residential institution founded in 1842; located just 20 miles north of Columbus, is seeking skilled candidates for the position of Campus Store General Merchandise Assistant
. This is a 12-month, full time, 32 hours/week with benefits!
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Campus Store General Merchandise Assistant
serves as the primary contact with external vendors for ordering and receiving of all general and licensed merchandise; and in marketing and promotion of the Campus Store to the OWU community.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as primary contact with external vendors for general merchandise.
Enter sales quotes in **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.’s electronic purchasing system.
Receive, verify, and unload orders as necessary.
Ensure the proper merchandising standards, promotion standards, creating displays, etc.
Stock shelves and take inventory per store schedule.
Greet customers, answer phones, provide information, and direct callers as needed.
Meet with offices or organizations on campus to order through store’s vendor contacts.
Position will have store opening and closing responsibilities.
STARTING QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent
2 years of experience in a retail environment.
2 years of experience working with vendors and/or sales representatives.
Previous experience opening and/or closing a store
Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Docs.
Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO SUCCESS:
Experience with an electronic procurement system.
Associate Degree
Experience working in a bookstore.
Professional experience with Google mail, shared drives, sheets, calendar
Effective interpersonal skills.
Effective oral communication skills.
Willingness to actively demonstrate support for diversity, equity, and inclusion, and participate in fostering a respectful, positive work environment that welcomes all persons.
