POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Merchandise Planning for Calvin Klein North America is responsible for  developing seasonal product plans, analyzing Sku productivity, costing/margin planning and performing in-season and post-season hindsight reporting across NA channels (Wholesale, Retail, Ecommerce) for Full-price and Off-price lines.  S/He will be a key partner within the Merchandising team in order to drive business growth and maximize sales through brand initiatives.  This position is also responsible for facilitating the NA channels through careful planning and analysis of the merchandise assortment and strategies and partnering effectively with divisional leaders to understand and address business opportunities and challenges.

 PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:

  • Collaborate with Merchants to build seasonal strategy across all NA channels of business for Full price and Off price lines
  • Partner with Merchants at key milestones to ensure merchandise assortment needs are being built to achieve growth of NA channels
  • Track the development ratio seasonally to drive efficiency across channels
  • Partner with Merchants to develop Sku plan guidance in order to drive Sku productivity on quarterly/seasonal basis and eliminate unproductive Skus
  • Support development of templates and define format for consistent “language” for use by all channels to ensure common process is in place to recap KPIs.
  • Bring visibility to the aggregation of regional plans with a global corporate lens to support End to End projects
  • Lead process and manage aggregation of data across channels for initial projections and pre and post-market margin roll
  • Develop and build standardized reports to perform in-season selling analysis and post season hind-sighting for continuous improvement
  • Analyze the business on an on-going basis to understand core drivers; identify opportunities and risks and partner with Senior Directors of Merchandising to respond appropriately
  • Present qualitative and quantitative hindsighting for Merchandising team’s quarterly business reviews and senior management meetings; identify product and delivery flow risks and cross-division opportunities
  • Develop short and long term product assortment strategies for the NA Channels for classifications, product mix and pricing that align with the Brand vision, financial plans and customer experience goals
  • Ensure accurate and timely calendar management for each season
  • Solicit and perform ad-hoc analysis when needed
  • Manage, train and develop Merchandise Planner

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Experience: 7+ years of experience in a retail or wholesale environment, including time as a Planner, Buyer, or as Retail business analyst      

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Merchandising or other related field

Skills:  

  • Demonstrated retail math and business acumen, including elements of markup, margin planning, selling and inventory productivity measures     
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills including presenting complex material in an organized and compelling manner
  • Strategic thinker who recognizes opportunities and can recommend strategies by building business case and influence senior leaders to move to execution
  • High level of conceptual creative ability. Strong product sense with proven experience in driving product assortments and partnering with divisional leaders to lead investment strategies that drive business
  • Strong time management skills, attention to detail, problem solving, interpersonal and organizational skills – communication between functional groups is very critical
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of ACS, SAP, 7th On-Line, Visulon preferred

ANALYTICAL/BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Track and report on selling KPIs; analyze Sku productivity; conduct competitive pricing analysis and own costing/margin roll ups

DECISION MAKING: Must be able to make decisions quickly in an ever changing environment; partner cross functionally with brand merchandising, merchandise planning and NA channels to make decisions as needed

RESOURCEFULNESS/CREATIVITY: Create and drive standardized reporting across NA; must bring innovation and creativity to new processes when warranted
