Devon Health partners with Geisinger Health System to promote CareWorks clinics
Devon Health has joined hands with Geisinger Health System to promote its CareWorks in-store healthcare clinics. With the introduction of the CareWorks clinics, the number of retail medical clinics in the U.S., which stood at 60 in January 2006, will be more than 300. The clinics will offer patients services at convenient locations, such as drugstores, supermarkets, and pharmacies. The major advantage of these clinics is that they will remain open at night and on weekends. No appointments are necessary, and patients can obtain treatment for minor illnesses and injuries. Each clinic's staff will be comprised of physician-supervised certified nurses and physician assistants who can treat strep throat, bronchitis, flu, and ear infections and can manage several types of wellness screenings and physicals as well as a range of routine and seasonal vaccinations.
